I came across this one on Facebook. David Michael was about to showcase his cover for book three of the Dick Dynasty. I had never heard of this Dynasty series. I didn't even know who David Porter was. After seeing his cover reveal and my eyes dropping to the floor, I now know the author David Michael and the Dick Dynasty brothers. Am I thrilled that I happened upon that thread on Facebook? Absolutely! This book has it all; the bright lights of Hollywood, the parties of LA, Porn stars, sex, mystery, and thrill.There's romance. Definitely. Holly doesn't want it. Or does she? Porter thinks he needs it. But what is it? Sex, conquest, love? Watching the relationship between these two was fun and interesting. I must say, I enjoyed their time together as much as they did. As the rocky road blooms, the author doesn't disappoint the reader. He throws in a thrill ride. Even a little gore. I can still hear the cracking. Even feel it. David Michael is a wonderful story teller. After reading book one, book two will definitely be on your must read list. It's on mine.And the best part about this is he is a self published author!

David Michael tells the dirty nasty secrets behind the infamous Porter Hale and his golden birth right ticket rise to the high society of Hollywood's reign in porn films. Michael juxtaposes Hale's god given birth right with the sweet and successful Holly Nash. Holly, also born of starlights royalty, works as one of the premier mainstream casting directors in a town which shows no mercy and stereotypes actors. Her chance meeting with the porn king sets off a series of troubling but deeply sensual desires giving way to a recipe built for fireworks and disaster.
Michael's does a great job unfolding the difficulties of social stigmas built around the Hollywood porn industry and the difficulties of breaking through those stigmas towards red carpet ground breaking rolls. The true love romance difficulties built around the one who steals your heart versus social attitude truly develops through Holly and Porter. The juxtaposition of Porter against Holly not only creates the conflict but builds into the rewarding climax of Michael's tale. A very fun, quick paced read with a large dose of reality swirling around the mainstream versus the pornography scene in high end Hollywood.
I admit, I was hesitant. The title seems a bit silly. Do. Not. Hesitate!
Porter is well written, funny, full of emotion, and definitely praise-worthy.
David has made his characters very likable; you want to see them succeed and be happy. I will admit, I thought it would go one way and I was wrong. At first I was like,"Why even bring that up if you don't use it?" But, um... it's not my book! LOL!
I really loved Porter and I am more than excited for Parker!!

Ok, I've had some time to think about this.... And I can be a bit more review and a little less "fangirl" at this point lol!
So, this book is a great read. The small details of each character make them completely part of your fictional family. I was not expecting Porter to be as deep as it was. The humor I expected, but the family angst, the "Man of the House" role that Porter took on, and the emotional investment I had into each character blew me away. Like a hurricane, people.
I will say, I want a Becks and a "kit" to come and fix me. that would be lovely. Just sayin'.
Each character has such an identity, such depth and persona, that I am now a life-long fan of Mr. Michael. He is the absolute bomb.
I originally marked this book "to-read" because it seemed like it was going to be a cute, funny read. but then, THEN I started reading reviews for it and I thought to myself, "Self, you need to read this. These people are freaking out about the Dick Dynasty!" And do you know what I learned? The reviews don't lie. They don't!! And I don't either. So go buy it. Now.
Porter Hale caught me by surprise. This story is witty, smart, and I want to belong in their crazy world that has such a colorful group of friends.
I think David did such a great job at writing about a porn star without him being sleezy, I guess I was expecting the typical porn star character who with the right woman is going to change his ways. What David did was already have Porter, evolving. Porter was already tired of the porn game, what was meant to be a stepping stone over took his life for a bit and maybe he felt that he was responsible for his other two brothers ; Preston and Parker.
The brothers are very different from one another; Porter is responsible and trying to become something more on his own, he feels a bit like a rebel to me. The beanie wearing, gorgeous scruffy guy, but don’t be fooled he is smart enough to catch Holly a very intelligent woman who has a made a career of her own, as a casting director. David provided the witty banter between the couple; he showed us that stereotyping really doesn’t get us far in life, to judge without getting to know someone. They have a very honest relationship and were not using each other, their relationship was free of manipulation and what it we had was pure chemistry between the couple. Once Holly takes a chance with Porter I was cracking up with them, swooning, and fanning myself. I loved when they were off doing things, I loved them dating, and really I loved when they were having sex! (aha)
Their relationship wasn’t a game, their love was a slow buildup, and I enjoyed the sense of humor that was always present in the book. Without saying too much, I think that there is such a twist to this book that will definitely have me reading the next!
PS David Will Holly ever get a chance to ride Porter’s bike?!
